EINDHOVEN — The Netherlands beat Serbia 2-1 in the Nations League thanks to substitute Joshua Zirkzee’s 71st-minute winner. Captain Virgil van Dijk marked his 100th international appearance as Oranje remained unbeaten in their first four matches under coach Xavi Hernández.
Teun Koopmeiners opened the scoring with a free kick, but Mihajlo Cvetkovic soon equalized with a header. In the second half, Zirkzee scored the decisive goal following a cross from Crysencio Summerville and a layoff by Tijjani Reijnders.
The Netherlands finished with ten men after Micky van de Ven went off injured with no substitutions remaining. An important save by Bart Verbruggen helped secure the victory.
