ORANJESTAD — The Government of Aruba has announced that during the 2026-2027 parliamentary year it will introduce new legislation to provide additional financial assistance to families with children with special needs.
The measure was announced in the government policy speech presented by Governor of Aruba Alfonso Boekhoudt during the official opening of Parliament. The proposal forms part of a broader agenda aimed at strengthening social protection and providing greater support to families with specific needs.
The government places the announcement within a broader social policy focused on prevention and early detection of poverty, domestic violence, alcohol abuse and other social challenges. The speech also states that prevention, treatment and reintegration in the fight against addiction should be better connected to achieve stronger results.
According to the speech, caring for people is not only about financial support, but also about creating the conditions that allow every person to develop in the best possible way.
