Iberostar leads partnership to reduce organic waste in Aruba

EAGLE BEACH – Iberostar Aruba and several local hospitality partners have strengthened their collaboration to reduce organic waste and promote a circular economy on the island. The initiative is part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2024 with members of AHATA's Environmental Committee.

The project focuses on separating organic waste so it can be converted into compost and animal feed instead of being sent to the landfill. The compost will be used for landscaping, agriculture, community gardens and environmental restoration projects.

As part of the initiative, representatives from participating hotels visited a similar operation in the Dominican Republic to gain practical experience in sustainable organic waste management.

According to Iberostar, the partnership demonstrates how the tourism sector can play a key role in reducing waste and protecting Aruba's environment.
