ORANJESTAD - A little after 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, the Police Dispatch Center was notified by AC that a male tourist had suffered a medical emergency in the water at Tres Trapi and was unresponsive.
Police officers and an ambulance were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, officers found several people on the shoreline attempting to resuscitate the man.
Police officers continued CPR until ambulance personnel arrived and took over the resuscitation efforts.
Despite extensive efforts to save his life, the 51-year-old American tourist could not be revived.
A physician officially confirmed the death. Victim Support Services also responded to provide assistance to the family.
