ORANJESTAD — Rainbow Warriors Core Foundation says private landowners’ rights are receiving insufficient attention in the dispute over UTV and ATV activity along Aruba’s north coast. The foundation announced that it has obtained authorization to represent the owners of Wariruri and seeks to intervene directly in the proceedings.
In an October 14 statement, the organization accuses tour operators of causing extensive damage to the property. It also alleges that government entities and tour operators removed barriers installed to restrict access. These are the foundation’s allegations; the statement does not present a court finding establishing them.
Rainbow Warriors argues that any agreement regulating off-road activity must respect both nature and private property. “It cannot be that a single group, namely tour operators, determines how tours are conducted,” it said.
The foundation also criticizes ATA’s promotion of adventure tourism. Its statement contains no response from the government, ATA or tour operators to the allegations.
