ORANJESTAD — HOH Academy brought together healthcare professionals from Aruba, Curaçao and the Netherlands for the Caribbean Echo Congress, held October 5–9. Organized with Dutch Emergency Ultra Sound (DEUS), the event combined theory and practical training in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS).
Training covered examinations of the heart, lungs, kidneys and other organs, with volunteers serving as models. The program catered to beginners and experienced professionals and offered medical specialists 18 accreditation points.
Dr. Els van Leest said the technique is not yet fully integrated into practice in Aruba: “We want to accelerate its use.”
Internist Jaclyn de Kort emphasized its potential to improve care: “It helps make our work easier and achieve more accurate diagnoses.”
