ORANJESTAD — Aruba Birdlife Conservation (ABC) will appear in court in two cases to defend Aruba’s nature. One case concerns protection of the Isla di Oro wetland. The other involves legal action against the Government of Aruba seeking restrictions on motorized off-road activities in several natural areas.
According to information shared by ABC, the two proceedings concern separate issues: conservation of Isla di Oro and restrictions on vehicle use in vulnerable natural areas. The exact dates and times of both cases are not being published, but they are confirmed to take place this week.
The off-road case forms part of the dispute over UTV and ATV activities previously covered by Noticiacla. ABC has argued that motorized traffic causes erosion, dust, vegetation damage and disturbance to wildlife, and that enforcement is insufficient to protect these areas.
As Noticiacla previously reported, the Court gave the Government time to seek a solution, and the Government and ABC began formal meetings. The Government said it aimed to combine nature protection with responsible tourism and recreational activities.
Through both proceedings, ABC continues to seek nature protection through the courts. The information provided does not specify the particular measures being requested in the Isla di Oro case.
