R4V: Aruba hosts an estimated 11,470 Venezuelan refugees and migrants

ORANJESTAD – Aruba is listed as hosting an estimated 11,470 Venezuelan refugees and migrants in the latest regional update published by R4V in August 2026, placing the island among the Caribbean jurisdictions with a notable Venezuelan population.

Across Latin America and the Caribbean, R4V estimates that about 6.98 million Venezuelan refugees and migrants are currently present. Colombia hosts the largest number at roughly 2.84 million, followed by Peru with 1.63 million and Brazil with nearly 800,000.

Within the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is listed at 99,700, Guyana at 28,300, Trinidad and Tobago at 26,400, Aruba at about 11,500, and Curaçao at 6,900.

There is, however, an important qualification for Aruba: its figure is not a new 2026 count. R4V’s technical table states that Aruba’s figure of 11,470 dates from May 2024, while several other countries have more recent data.

R4V also cautions that its figures are based largely on data provided by host governments and do not necessarily represent individual registration of every migrant or refugee. Estimates may vary according to each country’s statistical methodology.

Regionally, the total increased from 6,963,782 to 6,978,009, a net rise of 14,227 compared with the previous update.

For Aruba, the report again highlights the significance of Venezuelan migration to the island, while the age of the local data means the figure should be treated with caution until a newer estimate becomes available.
