ORANJESTAD – Credit extended to Aruba’s private sector has increased considerably, according to the latest figures from the Centrale Bank van Aruba (CBA).
Total private-sector credit reached approximately Afl. 4.76 billion in June 2026, compared with around Afl. 4.32 billion in June 2025. That represents an increase of roughly Afl. 441 million, or more than 10%.
A significant portion of the credit is related to businesses. Loans to enterprises stood at approximately Afl. 2.45 billion in June 2026, compared with Afl. 2.06 billion a year earlier.
Credit to individuals also remains substantial. Housing mortgages totaled around Afl. 1.44 billion in June, while consumer credit stood at approximately Afl. 518 million.
The figures indicate that lending activity in Aruba remains strong among both businesses and consumers. Credit growth can support economic activity, although it must also be viewed in the context of the ability of households and businesses to carry debt.
