ORANJESTAD – Low-cost airline Wingo carried more than 1.8 million passengers during the first half of 2026, a 12% increase compared with the same period last year. The growth was driven by the launch of nine new routes and the expansion of its domestic and international network.
For Aruba, the development is particularly significant as Wingo has expanded its service to the island. During the first six months of 2026, the airline introduced new direct routes Barranquilla-Aruba and Bucaramanga-Aruba, strengthening air connectivity between Colombia and Aruba while creating more travel opportunities for tourists and residents.
The airline operated nearly 12,000 flights during the period. Of the total passengers, 1.3 million traveled on domestic Colombian routes, while nearly 500,000 flew internationally as Wingo expanded service to destinations including Jamaica, Guatemala, Venezuela, and Aruba.
Wingo says Aruba is part of its long-term regional growth strategy, with the new Colombian routes expected to further boost tourism and connectivity to the island.
The airline expects to carry more than 4.2 million passengers by the end of 2026 as it continues expanding its route network.
