Pieters (PPA) again demands clarity on ATA's 16 million florin fund

ORANJESTAD – PPA parliamentarian Eduard Pieters is continuing to demand a clear explanation of how the 16 million florins reserved in the Aruba Tourism Authority (ATA) Corporate Plan & Budget 2026 under "Government Development" will be spent. He says the government has yet to provide Parliament or the public with a detailed explanation.

Pieters argues that ATA was created to strengthen Aruba's tourism product and questions whether the organization is moving beyond its original mandate by reserving funds for projects that traditionally fall under government ministries. He warned that, if this approach continues, ATA could eventually finance projects unrelated to tourism.

The PPA has submitted a formal letter to the Council of Ministers requesting all documentation on the legal basis, decision-making process, and justification for the 16 million florin allocation. Pieters said the request is intended to promote transparency rather than political confrontation.

He stressed that Parliament has a constitutional duty to oversee public spending and that the public has the right to know how ATA's funds are being used. According to Pieters, transparency is not optional but an obligation.
