Falcón business leader sees strong opportunities as Aruba-Venezuela air link returns

LA VELA DE CORO, Venezuela – Business and tourism leaders in Venezuela's Falcón state are optimistic about the planned reopening of air travel between Aruba and Venezuela on August 1, 2026. According to Juan Gotopo, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Tourism of La Vela de Coro, the move could revive long-standing economic and tourism ties between the two neighbours. "We have very positive expectations about the reopening of the border. Aruba and Venezuela have always been important markets for each other, especially for Falcón when it comes to health tourism," Gotopo said. He noted that for many years Arubans travelled to Coro and Punto Fijo for medical and dental care because of the quality of Venezuelan healthcare professionals and competitive prices. "Our clinics, dental centres, hotels and tourism operators are ready to welcome Aruban visitors again. We offer quality services at very competitive prices," he said.

Gotopo also welcomed Prime Minister Mike Eman's announcement that the route is expected to begin with two weekly flights. "Two weekly frequencies change the outlook significantly. It makes it easier for Arubans seeking medical care and for Venezuelans living in Aruba to reunite with their families after seven years," he said.

SMALL WARF MARKET

Gotopo also praised Aruba's plans to restore the historic Small warf Market, where Venezuelan boats once sold fresh fruit and fish directly to residents. "If the small warf is reactivated, exports from Falcón will grow. Arubans will once again have access to fresh, high-quality and more affordable products, while producers in Venezuela will also benefit," he said.

TOURISM AND SECURITY

According to Gotopo, a previous promotional campaign aimed at Aruba generated strong interest in Falcón's tourism and healthcare services. "Arubans responded very positively after learning about the prices of accommodation, healthcare and other services available here," he said.He added that Falcón is now considered one of Venezuela's safest states. "We invite Arubans to visit Falcón once air services resume. They will find a safe destination, beautiful natural attractions and quality tourism services," Gotopo concluded.
