DAS reminds clients that school declarations are mandatory

ORANJESTAD – The Department of Social Affairs (DAS) is reminding all clients of its Financial Assistance Section that submitting a school declaration for the 2026–2027 school year is mandatory in order to continue receiving certain financial benefits.

The requirement applies to:

Adult clients enrolled in full-time daytime education.

Parents or guardians with one or more children attending school.

Parents or guardians with a three-year-old child enrolled in a daycare center registered with the Fundacion Pa Nos Muchanan (FPNM).

A separate school declaration must be submitted for each child or student.

School declarations must be submitted between August 24 and August 27, 2026 at the DAS office serving the client's district. DAS encourages families with multiple children to submit all declarations together to avoid missing documents.

Parents of children attending an FPNM-registered daycare must obtain the declaration directly from the daycare and submit it to DAS to remain eligible for the monthly AWG 300 school allowance.

If the declaration is not submitted on time, financial assistance may be suspended. Clients who submit the form after August 27 will lose eligibility for the following month's school allowance, the parental contribution, school supplies allowance and the August back payment. Only the regular September financial assistance will be paid.

Once the declaration has been processed, eligible clients may receive:

A monthly AWG 300 school allowance.

A parental contribution of up to AWG 250, paid directly to the school.

A AWG 250 school supplies allowance per child in September, up to AWG 1,000 per family.

The August payment adjustment ("back pay") in September.

School declarations can be submitted at DAS offices in Oranjestad, Savaneta, or MFA Noord. Clients who have questions or whose child stops attending school are encouraged to contact DAS via WhatsApp 593-3118 or bijstand@das.aw.
