14 killed in U.S.-Iran attacks

TEHRAN – Iranian authorities say at least 14 people were killed and 78 injured after a series of U.S. airstrikes targeting military sites along Iran's southern coast.

According to U.S. Central Command, the strikes hit about 90 military targets, including air defense systems, missile and drone storage facilities, and other military infrastructure near the Strait of Hormuz. Washington said the operation was intended to weaken Iran's ability to threaten international shipping.

Iran responded overnight by launching attacks toward Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. Kuwait reported intercepting incoming drones and missiles, while air raid sirens sounded twice in Bahrain.

The latest exchange has placed the recently announced ceasefire under severe pressure, with prospects for renewed peace negotiations becoming increasingly uncertain.
