ORANJESTAD – The Government of Aruba has submitted its draft 2027 budget to the College Aruba financieel toezicht (CAft) for advice, as required by law. After receiving that advice, the budget will be sent to the Advisory Council before being submitted to Parliament.

According to Finance Minister Geoffrey Wever, the 2027 budget marks an important step in the way Aruba plans and manages its public finances. For the first time, the budget is being prepared using a system that more closely links government plans, spending and expected results.

The new approach is designed to make it easier to see how public funds are spent and what goals they are intended to achieve. It also provides Parliament with clearer information to oversee and evaluate government spending.

The budget also introduces a clearer classification of government income and expenditures, giving a better overview of how public resources are allocated.

Economic forecasts indicate that Aruba's economy could grow by about 4.1% in 2027. The government also expects a positive budget balance of 1%, while remaining within established financial guidelines.

Minister Wever said the budget is more than a collection of figures, describing it as a tool to connect every public dollar with clear objectives and more effective use of government resources.
