ORANJESTAD — The AVP-FUTURO Cabinet has submitted its official responses to 404 parliamentary questions concerning the first budget of the General Investment and Development Fund (AIOF) for 2026 and 2027.
According to Finance Minister Geoffrey Wever, the fund is intended to finance investments in infrastructure, education, neighborhood renewal, public facilities, government services and sustainable development.
AIOF was formally established by law on July 9, 2026, as a financial instrument to plan and carry out public investments over several years.
The Government submitted the draft budget to Parliament on August 6 and received Parliament’s questions on September 14. With the answers now submitted, the next step is formal parliamentary consideration of the budget.
Wever says AIOF should contribute to improving quality of life, strengthening public services and creating conditions for sustainable economic development in Aruba.
