ORANJESTAD — Carnival Cruise Line has opened bookings for its newest ship, Carnival Tropicale, which will begin sailing from Galveston on April 15, 2028, with cruises to the Caribbean, The Bahamas and Mexico. The ship will be the fifth and final vessel in Carnival’s Excel class and represents another major expansion of cruise capacity in the Caribbean.

The itineraries currently published for Carnival Tropicale include destinations such as Celebration Key, RelaxAway at Half Moon Cay, Isla Tropicale, Puerta Maya, Nassau, Progreso and Cozumel. Aruba is not included in the ship’s initially published itineraries, but the island remains an important part of Carnival’s wider Caribbean network.

For Aruba, Carnival’s continued Caribbean expansion is relevant because additional ships and capacity in the region can intensify competition among destinations seeking cruise calls. It also underlines the importance of maintaining competitive tourism products, adequate port infrastructure and a strong visitor experience.

Carnival Tropicale is being built at Meyer Werft in Germany and will carry the Star of Texas on its bow to reflect its connection with Galveston. The ship will offer four-, five-, six- and eight-day cruises.

Bookings for Tropicale’s first season are now open. Although Aruba has not been announced as part of the ship’s initial itinerary, Carnival’s continued growth in the Caribbean remains significant for Aruba’s position in the regional cruise market.
