Marechaussee investigates fatal September 13 crash involving military personnel

ORANJESTAD — The investigation into the serious traffic accident of September 13, in which a young woman lost her life, is now being handled by the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMar) because of military involvement in the case.

Aruba Police Force began the investigation immediately after the accident, but the case was later transferred to the Marechaussee. The investigation is being conducted under the authority of a specialized prosecutor from the Aruba Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The Marechaussee remains in close contact with the victim’s family through its family liaison investigators, while the Public Prosecutor’s Office is maintaining communication with their attorney.

The investigation is still ongoing. As part of the process, a forensic traffic investigation team was brought to Aruba to examine, among other things, the technical condition of the vehicle involved.
