Judge orders White House to restore access for CNN, MS NOW and Politico

WASHINGTON — A federal judge has ordered the White House to immediately restore press passes for journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico. Their credentials were revoked over the weekend after President Donald Trump criticized the outlets’ coverage.

The judge found that the government had failed to follow proper procedures or allow the journalists to appeal, potentially violating their constitutional rights. It also provided no evidence supporting its claim that the restrictions were necessary for security reasons.

The order prevents the passes from being revoked again for 14 days while the judge examines the case further. In solidarity with the affected outlets, ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox News limited their own White House coverage and stopped airing shared “pool” footage.
