Cuida Aruba focuses on participation and lasting change
ORANJESTAD — The Government of Aruba has announced the third edition of Cuida Aruba, scheduled for Friday, September 25, and Saturday, September 26. The initiative calls on the community to work together to keep the island clean and well maintained.
Based on lessons from the first two editions, organizers have made several operational adjustments. Waste will continue to be separated into five categories to speed up unloading, shorten waiting times and allow more material to be transported. Collection points will be open from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
According to Crisis Management Office director Rino Hermans, Cuida Aruba should not be limited to a single cleanup campaign. Its main goal is to create lasting behavioral change and prevent waste from being dumped again at locations that have already been cleaned.
