ORANJESTAD – The AVP party has announced that its 2026 Congress will take place on Sunday, October 4, at the Aruba Marriott Resort Grand Ballroom, starting at 9 a.m.
The congress will focus on three main issues: changes to the party statutes, the official leadership transition and the presentation of a new party board, along with boards of affiliated foundations.
The event follows Mike Eman’s announcement that he will hand over the AVP leadership during the congress and step down as Prime Minister on January 1, 2027.
According to AVP, the transition is part of a broader generational renewal aimed at strengthening the party for the years ahead. Members will also debate motions and vote on proposals that will help determine the party’s future strategic direction.
