Two arrested in Curaçao over killing of 19-year-old
WILLEMSTAD – Police in Curaçao have arrested two people in connection with the killing of 19-year-old Roshon Giselo De San Valente Giovany Dortalina on Weg naar Welgelegen.
According to police, the incident began at around 1:30 p.m. after an argument between two 19-year-olds escalated into a fight. One of them allegedly retrieved a firearm from a vehicle and shot the victim in the chest. The victim ran across the road before collapsing and was later pronounced dead.
Less than an hour later, police arrested the main suspect, identified as 19-year-old Q.M.A.L. Security-camera footage from the area reportedly helped investigators determine what happened and identify the alleged shooter.
Police later carried out searches in Brievengat and Seru di Mahuma, where a firearm was found hidden in a small structure in the yard of an unoccupied home.
A second person was also arrested. Preliminary information indicates that this person may have been helping the main suspect flee Curaçao. The investigation remains ongoing.
