PARANA - At least 23 people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between a minibus and a truck in Brazil’s southern state of Paraná.
The crash occurred at around 3:30 a.m. on the BR-373 highway near Imbituva. According to traffic police, most of the victims were travelling in the minibus. The truck driver was also killed.
Preliminary evidence indicates that the truck crossed into the opposite lane before colliding head-on with the minibus. Authorities are investigating the exact circumstances.
The minibus belonged to Imbituva’s health service and was transporting people to hospitals in the Curitiba region. The five injured victims were taken to hospital, but their conditions remain unknown.
