Aruba deputy prosecutors deepen knowledge of arrests, searches and seizures
SANTA CRUZ – Deputy prosecutors in Aruba received further instruction on key aspects of criminal procedure, including searches, arrests, seizures and case law, during an intensive full-day program for the island’s deputy prosecutors.
The focus was on legal and practical knowledge relevant to their work, particularly in criminal investigations involving searches of premises, the arrest of suspects and the seizure of property or evidence.
Experts sharing their knowledge included Examining Magistrate U.I.D. Luydens, Advocate General C.A. Kardol, public prosecutor A. Schotman, A. Flemming of AAA and M.A. van Loon.
Participants raised numerous questions during the sessions, providing an opportunity to discuss how the various rules and relevant case law are applied in practice.
The subjects are particularly relevant to the criminal justice process because decisions involving arrests, searches and seizures must be carried out within the applicable legal framework and jurisprudence.
