Falcón business sector welcomes possible return of Venezuelan boats to Aruba

FALCON The news that Aruba is considering allowing Venezuelan vessels to return to its waters has been welcomed by the business community in Falcón, Venezuela, where the possible reopening is being viewed as an opportunity to revive trade and economic exchanges with Aruba.

Juan Gotopo, vice president of the local Chamber of Commerce, said that although Aruba’s authorities are still evaluating the measure, reopening the maritime connection could provide an important boost to bilateral economic activity.

According to Gotopo, Venezuelan producers could once again supply fresh agricultural products to the Aruban market, while merchants and transport operators along the Falcón coast could benefit from increased activity.

The Venezuelan business sector also sees opportunities for tourism in the opposite direction, including Aruban visitors traveling to Venezuela for medical and other services.

If Aruba eventually approves the reopening, Falcón expects cargo vessels carrying agricultural and food products to be among the first to resume the route, potentially followed by tourist boats reconnecting La Vela with Aruba.
