Aruba issues 242 permits for new businesses in first half of 2026

ORANJESTAD – Aruba issued 242 permits for new business establishments during the first six months of 2026, according to figures released by the Department of Economic Affairs, Commerce and Industry (DEZHI) and Finance, Economic Affairs and Primary Sector Minister Geoffrey Wever.

In the second quarter alone, 104 new permits were granted: 69 to VBAs, 18 to sole proprietorships, 16 to branches and one to an NV. The businesses cover sectors including real estate, construction, technical installations, car rentals, restaurants, food and clothing retail and e-commerce.

Between April and June, DEZHI recorded 753 transactions related to business permits and changes, while 562 ministerial decisions were signed, including applications carried over from earlier periods.

Wever said the figures point to continued private-sector activity in Aruba. He said the government’s role is to reduce unnecessary administrative barriers, facilitate investment and make the process of establishing a business clearer and more efficient.

Of the 242 new businesses, 12 were established within the designated town centers of Oranjestad and San Nicolas, with six in each. The government links this development in part to fiscal incentives introduced in January 2026 to encourage investment and revitalization in both historic centers.

Noord/Tanki Leendert recorded the largest number of new establishments with 78, followed by Oranjestad East with 50 and Oranjestad West with 42. Paradera and Santa Cruz each recorded 25, Savaneta 13, San Nicolas South six and San Nicolas North three.

Following a record 880 new-business permits in 2025, the government says it will continue focusing on digitalization, simpler procedures and lower administrative barriers as part of efforts to diversify Aruba’s economy.
