114 Aruban students arrive safely in the Netherlands

THE HAGUE – A group of 114 Aruban students arrived safely in the Netherlands today aboard KLM flight KL767, where they will begin higher professional (HBO) or university studies. The total number of Aruban students starting their studies in the Netherlands this year is higher, as some were already in the country or will arrive later.

The students were welcomed at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport by Aruba's Minister Plenipotentiary, Mildred Schwengle, together with representatives of Aruba's Department of Education, the Aruba House, student mentors and members of the Plaatselijke Opvangcommissie (POC).

After collecting their luggage, the students were organized into groups before boarding buses to their respective cities. Many also took part in a photo session to mark the occasion.

Starting tomorrow, the new students will participate in the mandatory orientation program, which lasts between three days and one week. During this period they will receive guidance to help them settle into the cities where they will live and study.

Throughout their first year, students will be supported by a student mentor, after which they will continue to receive assistance through the Cabinet of Aruba.
