Newborn rushed to hospital after home birth

ORANJESTAD – A newborn baby was rushed to hospital on Wednesday evening after being born at a home in Frere Fredericus Street and showing signs that immediate medical attention was needed.

According to the Aruba Police Force, the Police Dispatch Center received an emergency call from Alarm Central at approximately 6:58 p.m., reporting that a woman had given birth at home and that the baby was unresponsive.

When officers arrived, ambulance personnel requested police assistance to clear traffic so the infant could be transported to hospital as quickly as possible. Under the coordination of the Police Dispatch Center, several police units opened the route, allowing the ambulance to reach the hospital safely and without delay.

Both the baby and the mother were taken to hospital for specialized medical care.
