Two local documentaries to premiere after Documentary Bootcamp 2026

ORANJESTAD – Rebecca Roos Productions will present the final works of its 2026 Documentary Bootcamp on Saturday, August 1, with the premiere of two short documentaries created by local participants. Admission is free.

Over the past two weeks, eight participants between the ages of 18 and 67 completed an intensive documentary filmmaking program led by Rebecca Roos, with assistance from Irvin Aguilar. Participants received both theoretical and practical training before pitching their own documentary concepts, from which two projects were selected for production.

The participants are Cynthia Rafael, Liesje Proveyer, Afranina Henriquez, Nohemy Habibe, Renato Vrolijk, Arturo Desimone, Angelo Gomez and Tuesday Irwin.

The screenings will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the National Archaeological Museum of Aruba in Oranjestad. Following the first screening, the audience will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback to the filmmakers. A second screening is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. for those who wish to watch the films again.

The Documentary Bootcamp aims to encourage local filmmaking by giving aspiring filmmakers the opportunity to develop their skills and share meaningful stories with the community.
