Government unveils new housing and land policy

ORANJESTAD – The Aruban government has introduced a new policy for allocating government land and developing housing, aimed at creating a fairer, more transparent and efficient system. According to Housing Minister René Herdé, the reforms are designed to address the island's housing shortage and give more Aruban families the opportunity to own a home.

The new policy allows for more residential and apartment developments, extends the financing period after pre-reservation from 30 to 60 days, and promotes more efficient land use. It also includes measures to curb speculation and restrict the transfer of government land to ensure it primarily benefits Aruba's residents and families.
