ORANJESTAD — The Aruba Court of Audit will receive a budget of Afl. 4.15 million for 2027, an increase of Afl. 265,000, or nearly 7%, compared with 2026. The increase was confirmed in legislation published on November 2.
The additional funding comes as the Court of Audit continues to warn about structural weaknesses in Aruba's public financial management.
In its May report, Buiten beeld, buiten controle (Out of Sight, Out of Control), the institution warned that hundreds of millions of florins in public funds remain subject to inadequate parliamentary oversight.
According to the Court, government fund budgets are frequently approved late, annual financial statements are missing, and some expenditures occur without prior parliamentary authorization, undermining legislative control over public finances.
The 2027 budget was approved on October 22, but the legislation does not specify whether the additional funding will support staffing, more investigations or other activities.
The Court of Audit is responsible for independently examining the legality and efficiency of government spending in Aruba.
