ORANJESTAD — A packed venue, three hours of music and dancing, and an atmosphere filled with joy and nostalgia. That was how Grupo di Betico celebrated its 58th anniversary on Thursday evening, November 5, with its grand concert “Nostalgia di Fin di Aña” at the Renaissance Convention Center.
The sold-out concert brought together an enthusiastic audience that spent three hours dancing, singing and enjoying the rhythms and melodies that have been part of Aruba's musical traditions for nearly six decades.
Under the musical direction of Gos Oduber, with production by Miguel Genser and Maikol Lugo, Grupo di Betico presented a show celebrating its rich musical heritage, featuring approximately 50 songs from its 10 productions. The performance was further enhanced by special lighting and video effects.
Since its founding in 1968, Grupo di Betico has earned a special place in Aruban culture, particularly through its traditional year-end music, which has shaped the island's festive atmosphere for generations.
Thursday night's concert was not only a celebration of 58 years of musical history but also a gathering of generations who grew up listening to Grupo di Betico.
The audience's enthusiastic response, filling the venue to capacity and dancing throughout the performance, demonstrated the lasting affection the group continues to enjoy within the Aruban community.
After 58 years, Grupo di Betico once again proved that its music is more than nostalgia. It is a living tradition that continues to keep Aruba dancing.
