UTRECHT — Utrecht Mayor and Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG) President Sharon Dijksma has confirmed that both organizations are willing to provide technical assistance to Aruba to improve waste management. The announcement followed a meeting with Prime Minister Mike Eman during his working visit to the Netherlands.

Dijksma emphasized the importance of cooperation between Aruba and other Caribbean islands in developing a regional waste processing system that could offer more efficient and sustainable solutions.

Beyond technical expertise, VNG can provide guidance on organizing, managing and financing public waste services.

A key concern for Dijksma is ensuring that the financial burden does not fall disproportionately on low-income families. She stressed that effective waste management should protect both the environment and residents' quality of life.
