Bartina Koeman, wife of Ronald Koeman, dies aged 65

AMSTERDAM — Bartina Koeman, the wife of former Netherlands national team coach and football legend Ronald Koeman, has died at the age of 65 after a long battle with breast cancer. The Koeman family announced her death on Instagram.

Bartina was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010. After recovering, the disease returned in 2018, and in 2023 she was diagnosed with chronic breast cancer. Metastases were also discovered in 2025, although treatment initially produced positive results.

Ronald and Bartina Koeman married in 1985 and had three children. Their youngest son, Ronald Koeman junior, is goalkeeper for Telstar and recently became a father, giving Ronald and Bartina their fourth grandchild.

In announcing her death, the Koeman family expressed their profound grief and described Bartina as a deeply loved wife, mother and grandmother.

When Ronald Koeman stepped down as Netherlands coach after the 2026 World Cup, he publicly praised Bartina for continuing to support and encourage him despite her own illness.

Bartina Koeman was also an entrepreneur and had her own cosmetics and skincare line.
