10th traffic death of 2026: 23-year-old woman dies in UTV crash

SAN NICOLAS — A serious UTV accident in Grapefield, San Nicolas, claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman on Sunday afternoon, marking Aruba’s 10th traffic fatality of 2026.

At approximately 2:58 p.m., the emergency dispatch center alerted police to an accident on the Grapefield road. Initial reports indicated that a UTV had overturned and that the driver was critically injured.

Police officers and an ambulance were immediately dispatched to the scene. Paramedics provided medical assistance to the victim, but despite their efforts, she could not be saved.

A forensic doctor officially pronounced Kimberly van Ardenne, born in the Netherlands on November 1, 2002, dead at the scene. She was 23 years old.

Forensic police, traffic specialists and victim-support personnel also attended the scene as part of the investigation and assistance operation.

The accident brings Aruba’s traffic death toll for 2026 to 10.
