Armed robbery at San Nicolas supermarket: 5,000 florins stolen

SAN NICOLAS — Two masked men, one armed with a firearm, carried out a robbery Wednesday night at Mei Hua Xi Supermarket on Weg Seroe Preto in San Nicolas. According to preliminary information, the suspects escaped with approximately 5,000 florins.

Police were notified at around 8:10 p.m. and dispatched San Nicolas patrol officers and other police units in the area.

According to the initial report, the two masked men entered the supermarket and robbed the person behind the cash register. During the robbery, one of the suspects struck the victim with the butt of the firearm.

The victim told police that both suspects were wearing hoodies and dark-colored pants. They reportedly spoke broken Papiamento and Spanish, while one of them was carrying a backpack.

After the robbery, the suspects fled on foot in an easterly direction with approximately 5,000 florins.

Ambulance personnel treated the victim at the scene and later transported the person to ImSan for further medical attention.

The Robbery Team and forensic police attended the scene and are investigating the case.
