Dick Advocaat extends Curaçao deal through 2027
WILLEMSTAD — Dick Advocaat will remain head coach of Curaçao through July 31, 2027, after reaching an agreement with the Curaçao Football Federation to extend his contract.
The federation says the decision is aimed at maintaining continuity, stability and calm around the national team, The Blue Wave.
The extension ends months of uncertainty over Advocaat’s future. The 78-year-old Dutch coach guided Curaçao to a historic achievement by becoming the smallest country ever to qualify for a World Cup finals.
Advocaat said he enjoys working with the group and wants to continue building on what the team has already achieved. The federation highlighted his experience, knowledge and leadership as key reasons for continuing the partnership.
A significant part of the current technical staff will remain involved, while the federation says it will continue investing in the development of local coaches and a stronger long-term technical structure.
Advocaat will announce his squad on Friday, September 11, for upcoming CONCACAF Nations League matches against Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Trinidad and Tobago.
