Mary Joan Foundation moves to larger center and appeals for community support
ORANJESTAD — Mary Joan Foundation (MJF) is moving to Santa Cruz 154-A, where it will operate from a larger center designed to bring several services together under one roof. The new location will include dedicated spaces for psychological support, medical check-ups, its wig project, client activities and the Workshop Factory project.
According to MJF, the aim is to provide more integrated and accessible support, particularly for people dealing with cancer. The foundation follows a holistic approach in which physical, mental and emotional well-being are considered part of the recovery process.
MJF says its financial situation remains difficult. The foundation receives Afl. 5,000 per month in government subsidy, while monthly expenses are about Afl. 14,000. Psychological support is not covered by AZV, leaving the foundation to finance those costs itself.
To help cover expenses, MJF is calling on the community to support a raffle for a 10 kW off-grid solar system. Tickets cost Afl. 100, with the draw scheduled for October 31, 2026, live on Facebook in the presence of a notary.
