Dornasol primary school team begins specialized autism and behavior training

ORANJESTAD — The team at Scol Basico Dornasol has started a one-year specialized training program aimed at strengthening its ability to support children with different developmental needs, with a focus on autism and behavior.

The program is being offered in cooperation with Hogeschool Windesheim and Instituto Pedagogico Arubano (IPA). At the end of the course, participating teachers will specialize as behavior coaches or autism coaches, while teaching assistants will gain specific skills to support children with autism in the school environment.

Education Minister Gerlien Croes said continuous professional development of teachers is a direct investment in educational quality and children’s well-being.

After Dornasol completes the first program, IPA plans to continue offering the course to more teachers and assistants in Aruba, helping build local expertise and strengthen specialized education over the long term.
