MEP: Minister Croes’ answer leaves key questions unresolved

ORANJESTAD - After nine months, Minister (Gerlien) Croes has responded in writing to questions about his private jet trip to Curaçao on November 19, 2025, but according to the parliamentary faction of MEP, several crucial issues remain unanswered.

The minister confirmed that he only contributed to the landing fee. That has raised further questions because his explanations about the payment have changed over time.

The main unresolved issue is who paid the remaining costs, including fuel, crew, handling and other operational expenses. The minister argues that this concerns his private life, while the faction points to documentation describing the trip as official government travel.

The faction also argues that the ministerial code of conduct requires disclosure when a third party pays part of an official trip. It is demanding supporting documents and clarification about who paid the remaining costs and under what conditions.

If no further explanation is provided, Parliament may pursue additional legal steps.
