Johnny Croes calls for higher-quality music education in Aruba

ORANJESTAD – Musician and educator Johnny Croes is calling for greater quality, continuity and long-term vision in music education for children in Aruba.

Croes argues that music education develops discipline, creativity, concentration, memory and teamwork. He stresses that access alone is not enough: every child should have the opportunity to receive quality music education.

He believes classroom teachers and specialized music teachers should complement each other, while schools, government, institutions and the cultural sector should work more closely together.

According to Croes, Aruba already has a strong foundation, experience and talent. The next step is to modernize the curriculum, strengthen teacher training and connect music more closely with Papiamento, culture and identity.

“We don’t have to reinvent everything. We already have a foundation. Now we need to bring it all together,” Croes concludes.
