ORANJESTAD – Minister of Health, Social Affairs, Elderly Care and Addiction Policy Melvin Wyatt-Ras officially opened the third edition of In The Picture during a kickoff event on August 20 at John F. Kennedy.

The program includes 20 participants selected from clients of the Department of Social Affairs (DAS) who receive financial support or social guidance. Participation is mandatory as part of their support program and is aimed at personal and professional growth, skills development and preparation for re-entering the labor market.

The program begins on August 24 and is organized by DAS together with the Department of Labor Progress (DPL), under the guidance of Stichting JA-IK Aruba.

Results from the previous edition showed progress: of 40 clients registered in February 2026, 19 entered the labor market, including seven before the program began and 12 during the program.

Wyatt-Ras stressed that the initiative should not be seen as a punishment, but as an opportunity for participants to grow and work toward greater independence.
