Dowers checks renovation progress at KIA, Police Academy and DIMAS

ORANJESTAD – Justice, Integration, Public Transport and Energy Minister Arthur Dowers has made unannounced visits to KIA, the Police Academy and the future DIMAS branch in San Nicolas to personally inspect the progress of ongoing renovation work.

According to Dowers, project supervision should not be limited to reports and meetings. He wants to see firsthand where work is progressing, where delays are occurring and which obstacles require attention to prevent unnecessary setbacks.

At KIA, particular attention is being given to infrastructure conditions, which require investment to improve both the environment for inmates and working conditions for staff.

Renovation and expansion work is also underway at the Edgar Joaquin (Watty) Vos Police Training Institute. Dowers additionally inspected the building in San Nicolas that is intended to become a DIMAS branch.

The minister says the priority is to ensure that projects are not merely announced or started, but continue through to completion, ultimately providing better facilities, improved working conditions and more effective public services.
