Curaçao supporters named friendliest fans at 2026 World Cup
WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao has received another international distinction following its historic FIFA World Cup debut, with its supporters being voted the friendliest fans of the 2026 tournament.
According to a survey of 5,200 residents in World Cup host cities, published by Sam Allcock, Curaçao's supporters ranked first for their warmth, hospitality and approachable nature.
Researchers said the island's fans stood out for their Caribbean spirit, colourful presence and passionate backing of the national team throughout the tournament. Many visitors described them as easy to talk to and one of the competition's most memorable groups of supporters.
Australia finished second in the rankings, followed by Scotland, Colombia and Ivory Coast.
Curaçao also impressed on the pitch during its first-ever World Cup appearance, earning a surprise draw against Ecuador. Earlier in the tournament, Livano Comenencia's goal against Germany also made headlines after Telemundo commentator Andrés Cantor delivered the longest "Gooooool!" call of the World Cup.
