ORANJESTAD – Aruba and Colombia reaffirmed their close friendship and cooperation during the official celebration of Colombia's Independence Day. Leaders from both sides highlighted the strong historical, economic and cultural ties between the two countries.
Prime Minister Mike Eman, Parliament President Marlon Sneek and Minister Wendrick Cicilia praised the Colombian community for its valuable contribution to Aruba's development. They also emphasized the strong air connectivity between Aruba and Colombia, which continues to boost tourism, trade and people-to-people relations.
Colombian Consul Gustavo Serrano Amaya noted that this year's celebration coincides with 200 years of diplomatic relations between Colombia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. A highlight of the event was the visit of the Colombian Navy ship ARC 24 de Julio, which selected Aruba as its first international destination.
