Dangui Oduber(MEP): Aruba's autonomy is not for sale

ORANJESTAD – MEP parliamentarian Dangui Oduber has reiterated his opposition to the Kingdom Act on Financial Supervision (HOFA), arguing that no amendments can change the fact that the law undermines Aruba's autonomy. He said the conclusions of the Council of Advice and the Council of State, both recommending changes to the legislation, confirm that the current proposal does not serve Aruba's interests.
Oduber argued that Aruba already has its own financial oversight system, complies with its financial obligations and is steadily reducing its national debt. He stressed that Aruba's autonomy and freedom should never be exchanged for financial support and called for the island's right to make its own decisions to be protected.
