Fifth homicide of 2026 reported after man found dead in Cocori
WILLEMSTAD – A man was found dead early Wednesday in a wooded area of Seri Cocori, Fuik, in what police believe is a homicide. Officers discovered the victim lying beside a pickup truck with a wound below his mouth. Emergency responders confirmed he had died, and forensic investigators have launched a criminal investigation.
Authorities have not officially identified the victim, but local reports indicate he was a Haitian national who owned a cleaning company. His family had reportedly alerted authorities a day earlier after he went missing. Friends and acquaintances described him as a quiet individual with no known conflicts.
The incident marks Curaçao's fifth homicide of 2026. The previous four cases include fatal shootings in Mambo, Julian, Ser'i Papaya and the Zegu Roundabout. Several of those investigations remain unsolved, and firearms have been used in every homicide reported so far this year.
