Curaçao: No legally registered tanker intercepted by U.S.

WILLEMSTAD – The Government of Curaçao has officially stated that no oil tanker legally sailing under the Curaçao flag has been intercepted by the United States in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the government, reports published by a Dutch news outlet most likely refer to vessels belonging to the so-called "dark fleet"—ships operating under false or illegal flags to evade international sanctions and oversight.

The government emphasized that matters concerning a vessel's nationality, flag registration and international maritime legal status within the Kingdom of the Netherlands fall under the responsibility of the Kingdom.

Any investigation into the misuse of ship registration or the falsification of a vessel's flag is therefore handled by the competent Kingdom authorities.

At this time, there is no evidence that any vessel legally registered in Curaçao was involved in the incident described in the published reports.
