Aruba Regatta brought Caribbean sailors to Surfside

ORANJESTAD – Aruba celebrated a weekend of sailing, competition and Caribbean culture during the 16th Aruba International Regatta at Surfside Beach. Following Friday's successful opening, Saturday featured the first full day of racing, while Sunday's competitions brought the three-day event to an exciting conclusion.

The Aruba Regatta Foundation welcomed sailors from Aruba, Bonaire, Curaçao and across the Caribbean for two days of competition. The regatta was open to participants of all skill levels, from young Optimist sailors to experienced yacht crews.

This year's event featured competitions in Optimist, SailQube, F11, Beachcats, Sunfish, Laser, Yacht Racing, Yacht Cruising, Yacht Live Aboard, Multihull and, for the first time, Wingfoil.

One of the regatta's most cherished traditions was the Miniature Sailboat Race, organized in partnership with Stichting Rancho. The handcrafted miniature sailboats once again proved to be a favorite attraction, celebrating an important Aruban tradition enjoyed by both children and adults.

Onshore, the Regatta Village at Surfside Beach served as the social hub of the event, offering registration, entertainment, food and drinks under a large tent. Friday evening officially opened the festivities with music, refreshments and networking opportunities.

Racing took place throughout Saturday and Sunday on the waters off Surfside Beach, attracting competitors and spectators to one of Aruba's premier annual sailing events.
