Curaçao native Ceddanne Rafaela named first-time MLB All-Star

ORANJESTAD – Curaçao-born outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela has reached another major milestone in his baseball career after being selected as an injury replacement for the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The Boston Red Sox star will make his first appearance among the game's elite players.

Rafaela, one of the Caribbean Kingdom's brightest baseball talents, was chosen to replace New York Yankees superstar Aaron Judge, who will miss the All-Star Game because of injury.

The 25-year-old is enjoying the best season of his Major League career, batting .286 with eight home runs, 39 RBIs and 12 stolen bases. His consistent performances earned him recognition as one of the American League's top outfielders this season.

For Curaçao and the wider Dutch Caribbean, Rafaela's selection is another proud moment, highlighting the island's remarkable tradition of producing world-class baseball players. His achievement serves as an inspiration for young athletes across the region dreaming of reaching the Major Leagues.

Also receiving first-time All-Star selections as injury replacements are St. Louis Cardinals catcher Iván Herrera, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Nick Martinez and Chicago White Sox first baseman Munetaka Murakami.

The 2026 MLB All-Star Game will be played Tuesday night at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia.
